Falling In

Since the game pitch a month ago, SymbioSys development has been largely on hiatus. But exams are now over, and we’ve had a bit of a break (actually found time to play a little Starcraft in anticipation of its impending sequel) so, we’re starting to get stuck back in a couple of weeks before Semester 2 begins.

Jai has finished rigging up the Leafy Dude model, it still needs a little work, but I doubt there’s too much more to preparing that one. He’s also modelled up the Gorgoth (tentacle eystalk guy) … needs rigging, but I can’t wait to see that one!

I hope to meet up with Daniel next week to finally iron out the proper music list … I should also mention that Daniel has already provided some brilliant tracks and I can’t wait to see more of what he is capable of.

As for me, it’s back to the software development required to bring SymbioSys to life. Since last update, I’ve managed to incorporate pod development, and some of the pod application code, as well as a few other little bits and pieces that are essential for future works. Within the next two weeks, I hope to complete basic pod incorporation, give the game the Irrlicht rendering engine facelift, have branches bridge between trees and incorporate interspecies behavior … basically, I want to focus on completing the basics of the game.

That gives me the semester to focus on testing and improving the game, incorporating music, sound and special effects and basically polishing this game to the desired retailable standard. A tall ask, but we’re going to give it our best shot!
